Seminar

Rationing Social Contact During the COVID-19 Pandemic Transmission

Seth G. Benzell

Using surveys, government statistics, and Safegraph point-of-interest level data Seth and his team were able to evaluate the trade-off between economic value and COVID transmission risk to different locations organized by type, time and geography. Their original work making recommendations to governments and businesses was published in June. In a follow up paper they evaluate how well the US has rationed social contact to high bang-for-buck interactions.
